Mountaintop Coalition
Statement of Solidarity from the Steering Committee (June 3, 2020)
In recent weeks we have witnessed yet more injustice, racism, and violence against Black lives. Inspired by the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., the Mountaintop Coalition reaffirms its unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusion. Collectively, we unequivocally condemn the continued violence against Black individuals as well as others, regardless of ethnicity, faith, nationality, ability, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Members of the Mountaintop Coalition join the many vigorous calls for justice and change within the Classics community and beyond. Please know that we are here to support you as you experience pain, frustration, and trauma, and we will not remain silent. Racism, bigotry, and hate have no place within the field of Classics, the communities we live in, our nation, or our world.
